Corneille completes mediation course
11/1/06
DeKalb - Attorney John R. Corneille completed a
course in mediation on Oct. 9-13 at Northwestern University.
The course, whose topic was divorce mediation, was a 40-hour
intensive program in the development of skills relating to
mediation of all conflicts affecting couples either going
through a divorce or dealing with issues that affect them
afterward. These issues include custody, visitation and
financial matters. While the focus of the course was on
divorce and related issues, the skills taught could assist one
to resolve any type of dispute affecting individuals and
businesses.
Mediation is a form of dispute resolution with its goal the
facilitation of problem- and issue-solving in a more peaceful
setting with minimal involvement from the courts. It
encourages the parties, with the assistance of the mediator,
to reach an agreement on the issues confronting them.
Corneille has been practicing law since 1984. During that time
he has negotiated and litigated hundreds of disputes between
individuals and businesses. In November 2005 he opened his own
law and mediation office now located at 151 W. Lincoln
Highway.
